A constantly changing landscape

Rebates for solar and energy-efficient systems can change frequently at the state and federal levels. Whether it’s a revision in eligibility criteria, the introduction of a new subsidy, or the expiration of an existing one, the landscape is in constant flux. This can be overwhelming for homeowners and commercial premises owners alike. Please note that governments do regularly change rules and regulations, and the conditions for rebates. Although we do our best to keep the website current occasionally, this information may no longer be accurate.

Commercial or residential, we’ve got you covered

The variations in rebates can be dramatic, but the good news is, we can help. Whether it’s a rebate for commercial solar power systems or residential solar panel installation, our team stays informed about the latest updates. We also know that each rebate comes with its own set of conditions and paperwork, which we are happy to manage for you.

Making rebate claiming effortless

One of our standout services is taking care of the rebate-claiming process on behalf of our clients. This means there’s very little you need to do other than decide to make the switch to a more energy-efficient system. Our experts will let you know what rebates are currently available, help you understand the potential savings, and manage the application and claiming process for you.

Small-scale technology certificates (STCs)

Almost all customers will receive small-scale technology certificates which are taken care of by the CEC Accredited installer or CEC-accredited retailer and is built into the price. This is the national rebate as is worked out by how much kW is installed on your property. E.g. 6.6kW in postcode 3222 works out to be 72 certificates generated. How much are they worth? Well a max of $40, last year they generally traded for $39 but it does fluctuate from time to time. Be sure to ask your installer or look on the quote to how it is calculated. 72 x $39 = $2808. This program started in 2016 and reduces every calendar year so don’t miss out.

Solar Victoria rebates

Solar Victoria has a great variety of rebates available to homeowners and business hence they are broken in to two groups: Solar Homes Program & Solar for Business Program. The Solar Homes Program has a set of criteria that you have to fit in to benefit from these extra benefits so jump over to their website to check it out.

Solar Homes Program

The main rebate is the solar panel PV rebate, which is $1400 with an optional interest-free loan of $1400.

The company you engage with must be a Clean Energy Council Accredited Retailer for them to upload your quote to the Solar Victoria website. From there, you will receive an email of what you require to be approved. Not all people are eligible, but it does cover renters and community housing, but you must obtain the landlord’s consent. Below is the criteria:

Victorian households are eligible to receive a solar PV rebate if they meet the following criteria:

  • They are the owner of an existing property or of a home under construction
  • The owners have a combined household taxable income of less than $180,000 per year (based on their Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment)
  • They have not already received a solar battery rebate or a solar PV rebate under the Solar Homes Program
  • It is an existing property valued at under $3 million, or a home under construction that will be valued at under $3 million at the time of completion
  • The property address has not previously received a solar PV or battery rebate
  • They do not have an existing solar PV system

In a nutshell, that’s about it. There are some restrictions with what is being installed as it must be on the approved list, but if you use a reputable company, you won’t have a problem.
